The Program in Nonfiction Storytelling is a new interdisciplinary program housed in the College of Communication & Information Sciences at The University of Alabama.

Through a growing slate of classes and initiatives, the program teaches students to develop works of creative nonfiction that advance human dignity, break down barriers to understanding, illuminate social injustices, and encourage collaboration and empathy.

Working across a variety of media, including documentary film, narrative writing, digital audio, and photography, the program produces and exhibits nonfiction stories to a wide and diverse audience. With local, national and international audiences in mind, the program promotes nonfiction work that balances individual artistic vision with a broad sense of social responsibility.
